In mid-June 2026, Aero Vodochody signed contracts with the Angolan Air Force and an unnamed civil aviation customer in North America. Angola will acquire up to four Skyfox jets, choosing to invest in modern airframes rather than overhauling its aging L-39 Albatros fleet. Meanwhile, the North American agreement involves a commercial operator with extensive Albatros experience. This strategic partnership includes commercial representation, effectively establishing a local demonstration hub to actively attract prospective regional buyers and secure future sales.
The L-39NG, now marketed globally as the Skyfox, operates as a state-of-the-art subsonic jet trainer and versatile light attack platform. Powered by a modern Williams International FJ44-4M engine and equipped with a fully digital glass cockpit, the aircraft delivers superior performance alongside significantly lower operating costs compared to previous generations. It features five external hardpoints for weapons and electro-optical sensors, making it highly adaptable for complex pilot training, air patrolling, and tactical reconnaissance missions.
