Aviation News – Turkish Airlines has announced an order for 10 additional Cessna Skyhawk aircraft to bolster its flight academy’s training capabilities. The agreement aims to address the rising global demand for highly skilled commercial pilots by expanding the carrier’s dedicated instruction fleet.
On April 23, 2026, the aircraft’s parent company, Textron Aviation, confirmed the signed purchase agreement during the second day of the AERO Friedrichshafen trade show in Germany. This strategic move follows a long-standing relationship between the two organizations, as the Turkish Airlines Flight Academy continues to modernize its educational infrastructure.
The academy already operates an impressive fleet of 66 training aircraft, and this latest acquisition solidifies its position as one of the largest operators of the Cessna Skyhawk in the region. By standardizing its primary trainers, the academy ensures consistency in instructional quality and maintenance efficiency for its student pilots.
The Cessna Skyhawk is globally recognized for its stable flight characteristics and advanced Garmin G1000 NXi avionics, which prepare students for the complex flight decks of modern airliners. Its high-wing design and reliable performance make it an ideal platform for ab initio training, allowing the academy to safely ramp up its graduation rates to meet the carrier’s aggressive growth targets.
