Aviation News – China’s newest aircraft carrier, the Fujian, is expected to achieve full operational capability by the end of 2026, marking a major step in expanding the country’s naval power and global reach.
The Fujian, formally known as the Type 003 aircraft carrier, entered service in November 2025 as the third carrier of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). As China’s largest and most technologically advanced carrier to date, it represents a significant leap beyond its predecessors, reflecting years of investment in indigenous naval development and a broader push to enhance maritime influence.
A key feature of the Fujian is its advanced electromagnetic catapult system, which enables the launch of heavier and more diverse aircraft compared to traditional ski-jump systems.
