The Ministry of Defence sanctioned these proposals on Friday as part of an ongoing overhaul of India’s military capabilities. This latest procurement follows a staggering $40 billion approval last month, which focused on securing additional French Rafale fighter jets and Boeing P-8I reconnaissance aircraft. By greenlighting this $25 billion investment, India is signaling a rapid acceleration in its defense procurement timeline to maintain a technological edge.
Beyond the headline acquisitions, the package includes significant upgrades for the Air Force’s existing fleet of Sukhoi-30 fighter jets to extend their operational lifespan. The Coast Guard is also set to receive new hovercraft to bolster coastal security.
