Aviation News – A Jet2 passenger flight from Antalya to Manchester diverted to Brussels after a violent midair fight forced the crew to seek police assistance, disrupting the journey and raising fresh concerns about onboard safety.
The incident occurred on flight LS896 on Thursday, roughly three hours into the five-hour trip. According to the airline, a dispute between passengers escalated rapidly into a physical altercation after alleged racist remarks were exchanged. Upon landing in Belgium, local authorities boarded the aircraft and removed two individuals, while the remaining passengers later continued on to Manchester.
Crew members followed standard safety procedures, isolating those involved and coordinating with ground authorities to secure the aircraft. Diversions of this type are rare but costly, often requiring additional fuel, airport handling and law enforcement response, while delaying hundreds of travelers and complicating airline schedules.
