Aviation News – Pegasus Airlines buys Smartwings for €154 million
Pegasus Airlines will become the new owner of Smartwings, including the Czech Airlines brand, in a €154 million acquisition aimed at strengthening the Turkish low-cost carrier’s position in the European market.
The deal follows extended negotiations between the companies. Smartwings, a Czech airline that also owns Czech Airlines, had been searching for a strategic partner to gain scale and remain competitive within the EU aviation landscape. By selecting Pegasus Airlines, the company signals its ambition to secure long-term stability and growth potential.
The acquisition gives Pegasus access to additional routes, greater operational capacity, and a broader customer base. Smartwings will be integrated into a larger network, enabling efficiency gains and a more resilient market presence for both airlines.
