India to Receive Retired Omani Jaguar Jets for Critical Spare Parts Boost

India will receive the Royal Air Force of Oman’s retired SEPECAT Jaguar aircraft, which will be dismantled to bolster the Indian Air Force’s spare-parts inventory, a move expected to extend the life of its Jaguar fleet.

The transfer follows Oman’s long history with the Anglo-French fighter-bomber, which entered RAFO service in 1977. Oman originally acquired 27 Jaguars—20 single-seat SO1s, five two-seat B02s, and two ex-RAF attrition replacements. The last four operational aircraft were retired on 6 August 2014, concluding more than three decades of service.

The incoming airframes will be stripped for usable components, helping India maintain its remaining Jaguar squadrons. These parts are increasingly difficult to source due to the aircraft’s age and limited global operators, making the acquisition strategically valuable for sustaining operations.
