France is buying additional fighter jets equipped with the latest nuclear missiles. The Rafale S5s will be stationed at an air base not far from the German border.

Additional investment is needed in increasingly dangerous and uncertain times, President Emmanuel Macron said yesterday at the base in Luxeuil-les-Bains. Macron has already announced his intention to increase the defence budget to more than 3 per cent of GDP, however his government is cash-strapped. The 40 Rafales would cost around €1.5 billion.
