Today, the Royal Netherlands Air Force said goodbye to the F-16, this took place from Volkel airbase with a formation flight over the eastern part of the Netherlands, the west was skipped due to very bad weather.
Eight F-16s from the 312 squadron stationed at Volkel airbase took off around 13:40 for a one-and-a-half-hour tour. Afterwards, they were received by the fire brigade for the traditional water shower.
The Dutch air force has flown this aircraft for 45 years, and it has been deployed on missions at home and abroad for decades.
The F-16s have been replaced by the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II.
