MCCAULEY PROPELLER SYSTEMS CELEBRATES 85TH ANNIVERSARY AT EAA AIRVENTURE

McCauley Propeller Systems today announced it is celebrating its 85th anniversary at one of the industry’s biggest airshows, the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. McCauley will display the King Air 300 series propeller, Fixed Pitch and Constant Speed propellers and the Composite Denali propeller within the Textron Aviation booth during the show and celebrate the significant milestone with customers and employees throughout the week.

The McCauley Aviation Corporation was founded in 1938 in Dayton, Ohio, and has been changing the face of flight ever since. Now known as McCauley Propeller Systems, with manufacturing now based in Columbus, Georgia, McCauley offers a full line of governors, spinners and propellers for both single and twin-engine applications. McCauley products support more than 350,000 aircraft around the world in flight — a testimony to its continuing commitment to excellence.

1938: McCauley Aviation Corporation was founded

1941: The first ground-adjustable, solid-steel propeller was developed

1946: The first forged aluminum propellers, “Met-L-Prop” developed

1953: The first McCauley two-blade constant speed propeller, “Met-L-Matic” developed

1957: The McCauley spinners are introduced

1960: The two-blade constant, full-feathering propeller, alcohol de-ice system “Feth-R-Matic” developed

1960: McCauley was purchased by Cessna Aircraft Company

1965: The three-blade constant speed propellers, three-blade full feathering propellers, and constant speed governors developed

1967: The electric de-ice systems are introduced

1970: Full feathering governors are introduced along with unfeathering accumulators, single-piece hub design with threadless blade retention

1974: Synchrophasing governors with mechanical activation introduced

1979: The three-blade propellers for high-speed turbine engines introduced, magnetic head synchrophasing control systems join the line

1980: The four-blade propeller for turbine engines are used on corporate and regional airlines

1987: The five-blade propellers are used on corporate and regional airline turboprops

1992: The second-generation, five-blade propellers with scimitar-shaped blades are used for regional airlines

2002: McCauley moves its operations from Dayton, OH to Columbus, GA

2006: McCauley expands its product line to Unmanned Aerial vehicles and delivers the first Predator B Propeller to General Atomics

2010: First composite fixed pitch propeller used for LSA aircraft, Electronic Governor (eGov), McCauley delivers the 200th Predator B propeller to General Atomics

2020: First Cessna SkyCourier twin utility turboprop takes flight with McCauley C779 propeller

2021: First Beechcraft Denali single-engine turboprop takes flight with McCauley C1106 propeller
