Ethiopian Airlines is planning to place a jet order this year.

Ethiopian Airlines is in discussions with Airbus and Boeing about future plane orders and expects to make a decision by the end of the year, according to CEO Mesfin Tasew.

Tasew told Reuters on the sidelines of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) annual convention in Istanbul that the carrier is studying the Airbus A350-1000, Boeing 787-9, and Boeing 777X.

He also mentioned that the airline is looking into narrow-body jets, as well as the smaller Airbus A220 and Embraer E195-E2.
