ATR and Air New Zealand Strengthen Partnership to Speed Up Low-Emission Technology in Aviation.
The world’s leading regional aircraft manufacturer, ATR, and New Zealand’s top carrier, Air New Zealand, have announced they are intensifying their existing collaboration with the aim of hastening the development and implementation of low-emission aircraft technology in New Zealand.
Under the initiative “Mission Next Gen Aircraft,” Air New Zealand is working with several industry and academic partners to replace its Q300 domestic fleet with a more environmentally-friendly option by 2030. ATR, which offers the most eco-friendly regional aircraft today, is conducting a feasibility study on its ATR “EVO” concept, showcasing its commitment to driving the regional market towards net-zero carbon emissions.
ATR is also focused on finding shorter-term solutions for sustainable and affordable air travel worldwide and aims to have 100% certification of its aircraft with Sustainable Aviation Fuel by 2025.
