Dutch Fokker D.XXI first flight

In the evening of May 23 2022 was the first flight of the newly built Fokker D.XXI with in the cockpit Jack van Egmond jr.

The flight was after an 8 year long building process. At May 6th 2014 Jack van Egmond SR and his grandson Tom Wilps started the project by laminating the first wood layers of the Wing Front Spar.

Using original construction drawings and a large number of original components, the aircraft took shape step by step. Original parts are used and the plane is built according to original Fokker build specifications as Jack van Egmond is in possession of 397 out of 416 Fokker blueprints

The Fokker D.XXI (or D.21) was a small fighter aircraft developed by Fokker in the 1930s.

The Fokker D.XXI was first used in combat by the Finnish Air Force during the 1939–1940 Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland.

On 10 May 1940, the day that Germany launched its invasion of the Netherlands, 28 combat-ready D.XXIs with which to fight an uneven battle against an overpowering Luftwaffe.
