São José dos Campos – Brazil, February 9, 2022 – Embraer informs that it has reached an agreement with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) related to the contractual discussion regarding the order for the multi-mission aircraft KC-390. Thus, the total number of aircraft to be contracted by the FAB will be reduced from 28 to 22 units, with deliveries scheduled until 2034.

The new production rates are aligned with the FAB’s budget conditions while allowing Embraer long-term planning with its suppliers.   The benefits of the KC-390 program are not restrained to the operational gains for the national defense system, but also represent an incremental increase of high value-added products exports, collaborating with Brazil’s trade balance. The aircraft has already been ordered by Portugal and Hungary, two NATO nations.

The KC-390 can accomplish a wide array of missions, including humanitarian support, medical evacuation, search and rescue, and transporting and launching cargo and troops, in addition to aerial refueling. Bringing unique innovations in its category, the aircraft has been successfully placed in FAB humanitarian missions in Brazil, in the fight against Covid-19, and abroad, such as supporting victims in Lebanon and Haiti.
