The first flights should take off this summer. The intention is to fly two Boeing 747-400 Freighters leased from Aerotranscargo FZE to airports in China, Hong Kong and the United States, among others.
Scholten and his companions have ambitious plans, he told Nieuwsblad Transport. Within two years, the fleet must be doubled to four 747-400s, and in the longer term the intention is to grow the fleet to ten aircraft with more economical 747-8Fs and 777Fs.
Aerotranscargo NL will focus on the transport of e-commerce, perishables and pharmaceuticals, among other things. In the first few years, the company will employ some 100 to 125 people. The licence application has now been submitted to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
The cargo transport at Schiphol is now largely done by foreign airlines. “Many parties do not regard this as an ideal situation, and I am putting this diplomatically. I want to respond to this demand with ATC-NL”, Scholten says.
