On June 10, 2020 the MC-21-300 test aircraft (tail number 73056) flew from Ramenskoye airfield (Zhukovsky, Moscow region) to Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airfield for painting.
The flight lasted about an hour and a half without remarks. The airplane was piloted by the crew of Hero of Russia, 1st class test-pilot Oleg Mutovin and 1st class test-pilot Vasily Sevastyanov.
At Spektr-Avia’s Ulyanovsk facility, the aircraft will be painted according to the scheme previously used for the second and third prototypes. The predominant white color allows to demonstrate the high quality of fuselage manufacturing achieved by implementing advanced automated assembly technologies.
The fourth MC-21-300 aircraft, built for flight testing, first flew up into the sky at the end of December 2019. After flying to Ramenskoye airfield in March 2020, the aircraft has been involved in flights under development and certification testing programs.
Irkut Corporation (as part of the UAC powered by Rostec State Corporation) is increasing the intensity of flights within the framework of the MC-21-300 certification program in accordance with Russian and European standards. On June 4, 2020, three test aircraft were flying simultaneously in the sky. The usual duration of test flight is about three and a half to four hours.
