Airliners suspend China flights in wake of Coronavirus

Airlines British Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines and Austrian Airlines which are both part of the Lufthansa Group have cancelled all flights to and from China with immediate effect. The companies are doing so in connection with the coronavirus outbreak.

Other airlines, including for example United Airlines, Air Canada and KLM, had already announced a reduction of flights to China due to decreased demand. Hong Hong-based Cathay Pacific is cutting half of its daily flights to mainland China.

Due to the sharp drop in ticket sales more and more airliners canceling flights. The Indonesian airline Lion Air cancelled dozens of flights from Saturday onwards on routes to fifteen Chinese cities.
