Man Charged After ‘Trying To Flag Down’ A Plane At Dublin Airport

A man has been charged with criminal damage, after being apprehended at Dublin airport while reportedly running out of the terminal and shouting “Wait! Wait!” at a plane he had just missed.

Patrick Kehoe, 23, was due to travel on a Ryanair flight to Amsterdam. However, an airport spokesperson said he, together with a female companion, “arrived at the boarding gate after the flight had closed”.

The couple then spoke to Ryanair staff and, according to the spokesperson, it was during this exchange that “the male passenger was becoming agitated”.

“He was banging on the window to try and get the aircraft to wait and he then broke through a door and made his way onto the apron, trying to flag the aircraft down,” they said.

“He was initially restrained by Ryanair staff on the apron and airport police, who had already been contacted, arrived on the scene almost immediately and arrested him.

“He was taken to the Airport Police Station and will be handed over to the Gardai [police].”

Later on Thursday morning, Kehoe appeared at Dublin’s district court where he was charged with criminal damage, for allegedly breaking a doorlock, and released on bail for €200 (£178).
