JSC Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) delivered its first Sukhoi Superjets 100 (SSJ100) with the new variable cabin layout to State Transport Leasing Company (STLC). Before the end of the year, 6 SSJ100 with the updated layout will join the fleet of Yamal Airlines.
Today the first two SSJ100 (MSN 95109 and 95112) with the new single class 100-seat layout were delivered to STLC. 100Y layout is SCAC’s novel solution. The cabin concept was suggested by the customer, STLC, and approved by Russian certification authorities in October this year.
What makes the new layout distinct is the possibility to effectively vary the number of seats and the class of service: 100-seat full economy class (100Y) and two-class layout providing for the availability of business class (8С+85Y).
Apart from the number of seats, such layout differs from the standard one in the fact that it has a modified galley and the variable seat pitch that ranges from 34’’ to 29’’ depending on the row.
According to Kamil Gaynutdinov, JSC Sukhoi Civil Aircraft President, “Development of new cabin layouts that would meet the customers’ demands to the highest extent possible is part of Sukhoi Superjet promotion strategy. The new layout designed for STLC allows achieving maximum efficiency in commercial service subject to the operator’s business model.”
Interiors are supplied by B/E Aerospace, an American company. Installation of interiors is carried out at the Ulyanovsk Aviation Plant Aviastar-SP.
Aircraft with the new layout are scheduled to be delivered to the first operator, Yamal Airlines, in November. By the end of the year Yamal Airlines fleet will grow by a total of 6 SSJ100 with new modification. In the current year the airline company has already received 3 SSJ100 with 103-seat single class layout; the aircraft perform flights within the airline route network.
New SSJ100 deliveries under the existing STLC contract (22 aircraft) will be effected with a view to the 100Y layout.
“We continue implementation of the state-run program relating to domestic aircraft leasing. Demand for SSJ100 leasing on the terms and conditions offered by STLC is still high. Furthermore, it goes over the volumes planned to be purchased in the context of the state air program for 2015-2017. In other words, one might acknowledge the origination of competition for SSJ100 aircraft between the airline companies,” noted Sergey Khramagin, PJSC STLC General Director.
As of today, 85 SSJ100 aircraft are operated throughout the world. These aircraft are part of the fleet of 12 companies and organizations from Russia, Central Europe, Central America and Southeast Asia and fly to more than 150 destinations.
