Russian Helicopters will build and equip a helicopter training center for the Land Forces of Peru. Creating such a center will allow Peruvian pilots of Russian-made Mi-171SH helicopters to be trained in Peru.
Construction of the helicopter training center in the capital city of Lima will begin shortly after the Peruvian side completes all necessary formalities. Russian Helicopters and Rosoboronexport have already found a contractor in Peru and the holding intends to supervise the construction of the training center to ensure best quality. The agreement with the Peruvian side specifies plans to complete construction of the center during the second half of 2017.
“The Peruvian market is very attractive to us. To strengthen our market position in this country, we volunteered to fund this very costly construction of the helicopter training center, which was not provided by the offset project, so that we could provide our partners with better options for training of flight personnel in Peru. I would like to emphasize that Russian Helicopters are ready for additional supplies of Russian aircraft to Peru, if requested,” – said Russian Helicopters Deputy CEO for Aftersales Service Igor Chechikov.
When signing the contract for the delivery of 24 Mi-171SH helicopters, the customer was offered an extensive offset program that included important projects for the Ministry of Defense of Peru, such as “The setup of a service and overhaul center for Mi-171 helicopters” and “The supply of an integrated 171SH flight simulator and a training room”.
