McMurray Wildfire Relief Efforts

This May, Fort McMurray in the regional municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, Canada experienced the largest mass evacuation in its history following a wildfire outbreak. Tens of thousands of residents had to flee their homes and businesses as the blazes ravaged the Canadian oil town.

“The damage to the community of Fort McMurray is extensive and the city is not safe for residents,” said Alberta Premier Rachel Notley in a press briefing the week of the wildfire outbreak.

In response, the government of Alberta declared a provincial state of emergency. Military, government agencies and aerial firefighting groups were just several of the many who answered the call. Although we all hope disasters like this one are avoidable, we are proud to say that some who answered the call are those who operate Bell helicopters. Mustang Helicopters and Helicopter Transport Services responded.
