Raytheon won a US Navy order for the design and manufacture of 15 Next Generation Jammer pods for the Boeing EA-18 Growler electronic warfare aircraft, the Department of Defense announced.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The NGJ system is a pod-based tactical jammer that replaces the ALQ-99 jammer system on the EA-18G aircraft, the announcement noted.
“Raytheon Company, El Segundo, California, is being awarded a $1 billion… contract for the design, manufacture, integration, demonstration and test of 15 Next Generation Jammer (NGJ) engineering development model pods,” the announcement said on Wednesday.
This contract also provides the manufacture of 14 NGJ aero-mechanical test pods, which will be used to verify aircraft flying qualities and pod safe separation from the host aircraft, the Defense Department added.
