And the 500th IPAD EFB solution goes to…….InselAir!

InselAir Fokker 50

Fokker Services, a business line of Fokker Technologies, recently delivered the 500th EFB solution to InselAir. In 2012 Fokker Services launched the Electronic Flight Bag solution (EFB) to the aviation world, which now has reached the impressive number of more than 500 aircraft flying with this EFB solution on more than 15 different aircraft types in more than 20 different countries.

In 2014 InselAir International started to improve its former fleet composed out of MD80s and Fokker50s with Fokker70s and additional Fokker50 aircraft. As part of an overall fleet improvement plan, InselAir will now equip all of its ten Fokker aircraft with the EFB solution for iPad® and the Photo Luminescent Escape Path marking SafTGlo®.

An EFB is a physical device containing hardware and software that carries flight documentation. The EFB is used by the flight crew on the flight deck during their duties. Fokker’s EFB solution for iPad® is EASA certified (Class 2 Type B) and requires no expensive ICT infrastructure. Easy installation ensures aircraft can be converted with very limited downtime at a cost that is incomparable to anything else on the market. This modification installs full provisions for the installation of two iPads® in the cockpit including power supply by means of a DC to DC converter.

Heino van der Laan, Vice President Marketing & Sales for Fokker Services: “We are proud that Insel Air, one of the key airlines in the Caribbean region, selected our iPad® EFB solution to upgrade their Fokker fleet. This is actually an important milestone to celebrate as our iPad® for EFB solutions is now installed in more than 500 aircraft world-wide. Our order book is still growing which proves that operators continue to recognize the added value of our product and service portfolio for their Airbus, ATR, Boeing, Bombardier, Fokker and Embraer aircraft”.

Albert Kluyver, Chief Executive Officer for InselAir: “We have significantly expanded our  Fokker 50 and Fokker 70 fleet over the last year becoming now the second largest Airline Group in the Caribbean. The Fokker aircraft are great aircraft and perfectly fitting our needs. This Electronic Flight Bag solution using the iPad is a perfect add-on, efficient for our pilots and easy to install.”
Note: iPad® is a trademark of Apple, Inc, registered in the US and other countries.
