Pilots from German flag carrier Lufthansa will stage a strike on long-haul flights on September 30, the German pilot union, Vereinigung Cockpit, reported Monday.

The strike will affect flights departing from Frankfurt between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. local time (06:00-21:00 GMT) on Tuesday, the union said in a statement, Agence France-Presse reported.

Lufthansa, the largest airline in Europe, and its pilots have been embroiled in a dispute over early retirement provisions for more than two years. In mid-September, Vereinigung Cockpit warned the airline management that a breakdown in negotiations would lead to a strike.

The statement was made a day after Air France’s main pilots union unilaterally ended a 14-day strike that grounded roughly half of the airline’s flights, leaving passengers stranded worldwide and costing the airline tens of millions of dollars.
