Alenia Aermacchi has signed a series of agreements with the Polish aerospace industry in connection with the advanced jet trainer tender recently launched by the Polish Ministry of Defence, covering joint development of technologies; production of advanced materials; logistic support; production of equipment and servicing and maintenance activities.
The M-346 is the most advanced jet trainer and Lead-in fighter trainer available on the market and winner of all tenders run so far versus its Asian and European competitors, and the Polish aerospace industry is considered a strategic partner with all the capabilities to bring a contribution to the development, production and logistic support of the fleet of new trainers to be delivered between 2015 and 2017 to the Polish Air Force.
Under a series of agreements, WZL companies and Alenia Aermacchi decided to jointly establish cooperation related to the Advanced Jet Trainer program. The agreements will allow Polish companies to hand over the maintenance, repairs activities and long life support of the M-346 aircraft fleet in Poland. Moreover, the Polish companies could be also responsible for the production of components and long-life logistic support servicing. The collaboration with WZL companies will be the key factor to develop a new, highly efficient, Logistic Centre in support of the new trainer fleet in Poland.
A second agreement has been signed with PZL Swidnik, a Finmeccanica company based in Poland, for the transfer in Poland of composite material production activities for new commercial aircraft and for M-346 component production.
In overall, Alenia Aermacchi is expecting that the potential technology and workload centered around the M-346 success in AJT acquisition could trace the path for a strong and successful cooperation between Alenia Aermacchi and the Polish Aerospace Industry, for the most effective AJT Fleet management in support of Polish Air Force requirements, as well as for the exploitation of the widest possibilities of industrial synergies for future commercial and military aerospace programs.?
