C295 humanitarian aid PeruThis week Airbus Military transported around eight tonnes of humanitarian aid from the Peruvian National Civil Defence Institute (Instituto Nacional de Defensa Civil – INDECI) to various areas in the country in the context of the cold weather campaign that is undertaken every year in Peru.

An Airbus Military C295 aircraft, provided by the Colombian Air Force, was chosen to carry out these missions, which involved the distribution of blankets and sleeping mats to the people in Juliaca and Jauja.

“We are very proud to have been able to take part in this initiative, which is so important for the people of Peru,” emphasised Antonio Rodríguez-Barberán, VP Head of Commercial of Airbus Military. “This mission demonstrates how the C295 operates efficiently in an environment like Peru, bringing necessary materials to people wherever they need them.”

On its journey from Spain – where the final assembly line for the C295 is located – and before continuing its flight to Colombia to be handed over to the Colombian Air Force, the aircraft landed in Peru to participate in the cold weather campaign and carry out a number of demonstration flights to various localities that are hard to access due to the difficult terrain in the Andes.
