Fokker Services is proud to announce that it has certified its EFB solution for iPad® with ARINC429 connection on the Bombardier Dash 8 series aircraft. The actual installation was performed at SAMCO Aircraft Maintenance BV, a Bombardier Authorized Service Facility at Maastricht – Aachen Airport. The operator Widerøe in Norway is the launching Dash 8 customer for the EFB solution for iPad® with ARINC 429 connection.
The Fokker Services EFB for iPad® Solution is EASA certified (Class 2 Type B), requires no expensive ICT infrastructure and will be charged during all phases of flight. Easy installation ensures aircraft can be converted with very limited downtime at a cost that is incomparable to any other EFB solution in the market.
Fokker Services started with the iPad® EFB class 2B Solution back in 2009. Today this iPad® based solution is sold on and installed on more than 100 aircraft including Boeing 737, 767, 777, Airbus A320, A330, A340, Bombardier Dash 8, CRJ and Fokker aircraft all over the world and accepted by airworthiness authorities. This makes Fokker Services the market leader for EFB solutions for the iPad®.
With Widerøe, Fokker Services took the next step, and integrated the iPad® through an ARINC 429 connection with the aircraft systems. This enables Widerøe to pick-up aircraft data like position, speed and other data. With this feature Fokker Services pushes the EFB solution for iPad® to a higher level that will definitely be of interest to other potential customers. Many new iPad® applications will be possible with the input of the aircraft data.
Helge Anonsen, Deputy Director Flight Operations Widerøe: “The introduction of an integrated class 2B EFB is a major step forward for Widerøe. We expect it reduce workload for our pilots as well as both increased safety and financial benefits. Our demanding route structure and operational environment requires a tailored and robust EFB solution. We are confident that our continued cooperation with Fokker Services will provide us with this.”
Heino van der Laan, Vice President Marketing and Sales Fokker Services: “We are excited Widerøe, a well known and established Scandinavian operator based in Norway, chose for Fokker Services. This is the first Bombardier Dash-8 operator that has chosen the innovative EFB solution for iPad® and we expect many to follow, based on the interest of the market, and the fact we offer a unique EFB product in the market. We continue to expand the products and services for the Bombardier operator community”.
