The Seven-Year Forecast of flights (2012-2018) is now available. This document replaces the medium-term forecast report published in February and the short-term forecast published in May. Over the Summer months, European traffic has followed the last forecast published in May fairly closely. Nevertheless, very high oil prices, a weaker economic outlook and other recent events have all led to a downwards revision of the forecast.
The decline (-1.5%) for 2012 is basically unchanged from the February forecast. Growth in 2013 is now expected to be flat (down to 0% from 1.5% in the February forecast). As a result, the forecast estimates that there will be 11.1 million flights in 2018, just below the figure published in February this year.
