The Irkut Corporation’s plant at Irkutsk recently began final assembly of the 35th example of the Yakovlev Yak-130 combat trainer. Of this total, approximately ten have been completed and test flown, while about another eight Yak-130 fuselages are being assembled. Some of the aircraft in Irkut’s assembly hall already have Russian Air Force insignia, as the company is producing them in anticipation of a further order from the service. Russia’s National Armament Programme outlines the purchase by 2020 of 62 Yak-130s above the current batch of 12 aircraft ordered.
