Airbus Military has successfully completed tests to demonstrate the ability of the A400M new generation airlifter to operate on wet runways and taxiways without ingesting water into the engines.
During the tests at Istres, France the aircraft travelled through troughs containing 2-6cm of water at speeds up to 90kt in take-off and landing configurations, including operations with reverse thrust.
The aircraft performed satisfactorily and no water was ingested into the engines.
