Lockheed Martin’s Vice President for C-130 Programs, Lorraine Martin, visited Marshall Aerospace at Cambridge on 27th January, taking the opportunity to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Marshall Aerospace and Lockheed Martin to work in partnership to provide Global Sustainment Support Solutions to Northern European C-130 customers.
On signing the MOU, Lorraine Martin, stated: “The C-130 has long been recognized as the world’s proven airlifter. This agreement with Marshall Aerospace ensures that C-130 operators will receive the best of our combined resources for C-130 sustainment, modification and enhancement keeping the C-130 fleet viable well into the future. In addition, Lockheed Martin is proud of the opportunity to support and expand the role of a company key to the UK’s defence industrial base.”
Grahame Nix, Chief Operating Officer, Marshall Aerospace said: “This agreement will have significant benefits and options for Northern European C-130 customers and beyond. It will include comprehensive access to cost-effective complementary capabilities, responsive and in-depth access to technical and logistic operational support, and access to a wide range of value for money, performance based and responsive support solutions.”
Grahame added: “As a well-established C-130 Service Centre, it is Marshall Aerospace’s aim to ensure that customers receive the best integrated support available to guarantee the operational readiness of their C-130 aircraft, and we are looking forward to entering into this new venture with Lockheed Martin.”
Initially there are four key air force customers who could benefit from this partnering arrangement: Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, and this will allow Marshall Aerospace and Lockheed Martin to offer performance based, operationally focussed logistic and technical sustainment solutions to support their respective C-130s. Through this combined approach, customers will have direct access to the joint complementary capabilities of Marshall Aerospace and Lockheed Martin as the aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer.
