WICHITA, Kan., May 25, 2010 – Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today it has delivered two Skycatcher light sport aircraft to the Experimental Aircraft Association, better known as EAA. The delivery took place at Yingling Aviation in Wichita, Kan., Cessna’s authorized regional Skycatcher delivery center.
EAA plans to use the Skycatchers as part of its Air Academy, which is designed to introduce young people to the world of aviation. Both Skycatchers will be on display during AirVenture 2010 in Oshkosh, Wis., in July.
The Model 162 Skycatcher is a two-place, single-engine piston, high-wing aircraft in the Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) category, defined in the United States as an aircraft with a gross weight under 1,320 pounds and with a top speed of no more than 120 knots. LSAs are built to ASTM International standards.
