Hatfield, United Kingdom. UK Company Aviation Capital Solutions has acquired five BAe 146-300 regional jetliners from BAE Systems for use in the European air charter market and Africa with existing clients.

The aircraft are due for delivery through to June and initially will be based in Europe on ACMI contracts (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) to cater for last minute aircraft capacity requests from charter companies and also scheduled airlines.

Maintenance for the aircraft and engines will be carried out by a related company, Avman Engineering, at Manston Airport in Kent which is offering fixed price engine support. Avman is a European Aviation Safety Agency-approved maintenance, repair and overhaul organisation with BAe 146 and Avro RJ line and base maintenance approvals and a Honeywell ALF 502/LF507 engine shop.

Jeff Ashfield, Managing Director of Aviation Capital Solutions, said today: “We believe that the benefits of operating the BAe 146 in our chosen market will give us the necessary competitive edge to win business and this acquisition has already led to positive enquiries.”

Steve Doughty, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing for BAE Systems Regional Aircraft Asset Management added: “The acquisition by Aviation Capital Solutions shows that the BAe 146 still has an important role to play in the prime European market. For the competitive ACMI sector a combination of low acquisition cost, good operational economics and strong passenger appeal are all vital factors and the BAe 146 is well placed to serve this niche.”
