Bahrain Air puts off Sudan airline plans

BEIRUT – Bahrain Air, launched three years ago, has postponed until further notice a project to set up, along with other partners, a new airline in Sudan, Manama-based Al Waqt daily reports Thursday citing Bahrain Air’s managing director Ibrahim Al Hamer.

The Blue Nile Airways was supposed to be launched this month with an initial capital of $20 million, the paper reports, adding that the other partners included the Egyptian-Sudanese firm Afaq and corporate and individual investors from Bahrain.

Hamer also said the airline Tuesday launched services to the city of Dhaka in Bangladesh with seven flights a week and that it also plans to fly to Chittagong in Bangladesh on March 22 and Istanbul on June 16.
