GLOUCESTER — When Hilda Corey heard a loud bang outside her home she expected to see a car crash.
Instead she saw a mangled light aircraft that had crash landed on Clay Bank Road. The plane crash occurred just after 3 p.m. Saturday, Corey said.
“The pilot was shaken up but unhurt. He walked away,” Corey said. She said the pilot was concerned about the state of his single seater airplane. “I told him he was lucky to have survived. He could have hit power lines,” she said.
Corey said investigators from the Federal Aviation Authority were on the scene Saturday afternoon. State police spokeswoman Michelle Cotten confirmed there was a minor plane crash in Gloucester Saturday afternoon. She said there were no injuries.
