Australian carrier Qantas said Friday it was canceling an order for 15 Boeing 787s worth up to $3.1 billion at list prices, while delaying delivery of 15 additional jets by four years. “The operating environment for the world’s airlines has clearly changed dramatically” since Qantas placed its order in 2005, CEO Alan Joyce said in a statement. Qantas said its decision was not related to the latest delay in production of the 787, which Boeing announced earlier in the week, but one analyst said the plane maker needs “to be very careful of a perceived loss of confidence.”
