Bombardier Aerospace today announced that IBEX Airlines of Japan will operate four CRJ700 NextGen airliners. These four aircraft are part of an order that was announced on June 23, 2008, and are being sold to an unidentified customer.
IBEX currently operates two 50-seat CRJ100 and two 50-seat CRJ200 aircraft. Its 70-seat CRJ700 NextGen airliners will be the first CRJ700 aircraft in Japan.
The four CRJ700 NextGen aircraft will increase the fleet of CRJ Series aircraft in Japan to 17. There are also 50 Dash 8 and Q-Series turboprop airliners in the country.
“Japan has been a steady market for our CRJ and Q-Series aircraft and we’re delighted that four more aircraft are going into the country,†said Gary R. Scott, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “IBEX will appreciate the low operating and maintenance costs of the CRJ700 NextGen aircraft, while passengers will enjoy the enhanced cabin environment.â€
Bombardier has recorded firm orders for a total of 1,688 CRJ Series aircraft, with 1,542 delivered as of April 30, 2009.
