Predictive Readiness Assessment System Allows Senior Leaders to Make Better-Informed Decisions for Budget Use and Force Structuring
Â
McLean, VA – April 22, 2009 – Alion Science and Technology, an employee-owned technology solutions provider, was awarded an $8.5 million Air Force follow-on contract to design and maintain a Web-based system that reports, assesses and predicts Air Force readiness levels.
Under the contract, Alion will continue creating the Predictive Readiness Assessment System (PRAS) for the Air Force Readiness Office. The modeling and simulation system gives Air Force decision-makers key information, which assists them in deciding how to allocate resources and reconstitute force structures based on various funding scenarios.
“Alion’s team of managers, analysts, and software developers have successfully, over the past six years, developed PRAS from concept to a mature, fully working SIPRNet (Secret Internet Protocol Router Network) Web-based system,†said Dick Brooks, Alion Senior Vice President and Manager of the Distributed Simulation Group. “PRAS can now provide senior Air Force leadership with an integrated view of present and future readiness.â€
The sole-source, firm fixed-price contract runs for one base year with four option years. The period of performance ends February 28, 2014. The Air Force District of Washington, located at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, DC, is the contracting authority.
PRAS, considered a strategic readiness system, assesses current and past readiness levels and the impact of budgetary funding on readiness. This information will enable leaders to forecast the impact and risks of various operational plans and scenarios and adjust policies, force structures and concepts of operations to mitigate projected readiness shortfalls.
