Personnel from the German Air Force have been based at RAF Coningsby during March, whilst taking part in Exercise Cobra Warrior.
Cobra Warrior is a large-scale exercise utilising almost every type of aircraft in the RAF’s inventory, including fast jets, helicopters, transport and ISTAR assets. During the three-week exercise, the personnel, and their different platforms took part in eight ‘real-world’ scenarios, practicing how to combine the different elements to greatest effect.
The RAF and the German Air Force also both used the exercise as the final phase of their respective Qualified Weapons Instructor Courses for their Eurofighter and Typhoon aircraft.
Station Commander at RAF Coningsby, Group Captain Jez Attridge said, “It’s been great to have the Luftwaffe here at Coningsby. The combined might of their Typhoon Qualified Weapon Instructors course with ours has been impressive and bodes well for the future. I look forward to welcoming them back”.
