Aviation News – Airbus has surpassed 500 deliveries of its A220 aircraft, highlighting the program’s turnaround and growing market relevance. The milestone, reached in March 2026, underscores the jet’s evolution from a troubled start into a commercial success.

The company confirmed that eight aircraft were delivered during March, bringing total deliveries to 501. Originally launched as the Bombardier CSeries, the program faced delays and financial strain before being acquired by Airbus in 2018. The partnership reshaped the aircraft’s trajectory, positioning it within Airbus’ global production and sales network.

The A220 is a modern, fuel-efficient narrowbody jet designed for short- to medium-haul routes. It offers lower operating costs and reduced emissions compared to older aircraft in its category, making it attractive to airlines seeking efficiency and flexibility. Its performance capabilities allow airlines to open new routes and optimize fleet utilization.
