Australia’s First MC-55A Peregrine Arrives at RAAF Base Edinburgh

Aviation News – Australia has received its first MC-55A Peregrine intelligence aircraft, with the platform arriving at RAAF Base Edinburgh in South Australia. The delivery marks a major bolt-on enhancement to the Royal Australian Air Force’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.

The aircraft arrived on 22 January 2026 after departing the L3Harris facility in Greenville, South Carolina, and transiting via Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. It will be operated by Royal Australian Air Force No. 10 Squadron and represents the third MC-55A Peregrine airframe produced, with the most likely serial number identified as A51-003.

The MC-55A Peregrine is designed to collect, analyze and disseminate intelligence across multiple domains, supporting joint and coalition operations. Its long-range endurance and advanced mission systems allow it to provide persistent situational awareness, strengthening Australia’s ability to monitor regional security developments.
