Aviation News – All Nippon Airways (ANA) has operated the final scheduled commercial flight of its iconic Boeing 777-200 C-3PO aircraft, marking the end of one of the most recognizable special liveries in global aviation.
The farewell flight underscores ANA’s broader fleet and branding transition as it prepares to conclude its long-running Star Wars livery program.
The aircraft, registered JA743A, flew its last service on January 9 as flight NH270 from Fukuoka to Tokyo Haneda, according to FlightRadar24. Departure took place at 19:55 JST, with arrival at 21:30 JST, closing the operational chapter of the C-3PO-themed jet. The retirement forms part of ANA’s plan to wind down its Star Wars initiative, which is scheduled to formally end on March 31, 2026.
The Boeing 777-200 served as a long-haul and high-capacity workhorse in ANA’s fleet, while the C-3PO livery transformed the aircraft into a flying symbol of pop culture and airline branding. Special liveries like this play a key role in passenger engagement, marketing visibility, and brand differentiation without altering the aircraft’s core operational performance.
ANA has previously highlighted the cultural value of the program, stating that the Star Wars jets were designed to create memorable travel experiences and connect aviation with global entertainment icons.
