On Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September 2024, hundreds of thousands of visitors will once again discover the Port of Rotterdam during the 47th edition of the World Port Days. With special ships, exciting excursions, spectacle on the water and in the air.
From rescue operations, piloting and a calamity show, to competitions between sailing ships, rowers, and Royal Navy commandos and paratroopers reenacting their missions.
Calamity show
Every day there is a simulation of an emergency situation on an inland tanker. Smoke and explosions recreate a realistic scenario. The rescue team jumps into action to rescue drowning people, while a KNRM vessel prepares injured persons for transport by the AW189 Coast Guard helicopter. Meanwhile, a patrol vessel from DHMR extinguishes the fire on the bow and an oil spill control vessel from HEBO cleans up spilled oil. After a final check, the vessels sail out of the show area in formation.
Royal Netherlands Air Force
Highlight in the air is the demonstration of a Maritme NH90-NFG helicopter! The helicopter launches a dummy torpedo and simulates intercepting and disabling a submarine.
