Alaska Airlines is temporarily grounding all 65 Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft to carry out inspections. This was decided by the US airline after an aircraft of this type had to make an emergency landing yesterday. About 35 minutes after take-off, the plane lost part of its fuselage.
The Boeing 737 MAX 9 was en route from Portland in Oregon to Ontario in California. Flight data showed that the plane had climbed to almost 5,000 metres before returning to Portland International Airport. The airline said it was able to land safely with 174 passengers and six crew members on board. No injuries were reported.
