Saab’s fourth GlobalEye successfully completed its first flight.

The inaugural flight of the fourth GlobalEye is a key milestone in Saab’s Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) programme, demonstrating that Saab can deliver GlobalEye quickly and reliably.

On April 3, 2023, the aircraft flew to the sky from Saab’s airport in Linköping, Sweden, and did many tests connected to the aircraft’s capabilities.

“We are quite pleased with another GlobalEye’s successful first flight.” This demonstrates that we have the infrastructure, resources, and knowledge to provide our customers with the most modern AEW&C solution in an unrivaled time period,” says Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s business area Surveillance.

GlobalEye is the most advanced multi-domain Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) solution, featuring an array of active and passive sensors for long-range detection and identification of objects in the air, sea, and over land.

GlobalEye allows better situational awareness of surrounding areas and early detection of threats by giving real-time information to units in air forces, armies, and navies. It can also be used for non-military purposes, such as commanding and organizing rescue activities after natural catastrophes or large accidents on land or at sea.

Saab has the world’s largest AEW&C customer base, having delivered systems for different mission tasks spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia over the previous 30 years.
