A Volga-Dnepr AN-124-100 RA-82042, made an emergency landing at Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk, Russia this morning, and suffered extensive damage.

The An-124 was just departing on a flight to Vienna/Schwechat Airport (Austria), when moments after take-off at 12:09 hours local time, the number 2 engine suffered an uncontained failure.

The aircraft had made a technical stop at the airport, but returned immediately after take-off, overrunning the runway by some 200 metres with collapsed gear.

There were 14 people on board but there were no injuries.
