Russian space cargo ship destroyed after launch

(Reuters) An unmanned cargo ship headed to the International Space Station was destroyed about six minutes after liftoff from Kazakhstan on Thursday, the Russian space agency Roscosmos said on Twitter.

Loss of the Progress capsule, which carried more than 2-1/2 tons of food and supplies, occurred at an altitude of about 118 miles (190 km), the agency said. The cause was not immediately known.
