Eurofighter Typhoons belonging to the Austrian Armed Forces will secure the airspace during the World Economic Forum 2016 in Davos this week.

According to the organizers, numerous Heads of State and Government, and more than 2,500 leading representatives from politics, industry and society will participate at the 46th annual meeting. As in previous years, the Eurofighter Typhoons will support the airspace surveillance operation codenamed this year “Daedalus16”, contributing to the security of this internationally renowned conference. The World Economic Forum 2016 takes place at the prominent ski-resort from 20 to 23 January.

Eurofighter’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Volker Paltzo, said: “The primary task of the Eurofighter Typhoons is to control the airspace over Austria on a day by day basis all year around. In addition, they can also be used to enhance security measures for major international events like this conference in Switzerland. Due to their maneuverability, agility and powerful engines, the Eurofighters are ideal defence systems to secure the airspace of our customers quickly, efficiently and reliably.”

All 15 Eurofighter Typhoons stationed at the Zeltweg Air Base (Styria) are equipped with an enhanced hardware and software and comply with the latest capability standard for Tranche 1 aircraft.
