GACA denies plan for Najran airport shift

The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) has denied reports that the Najran airport will be transferred away from the Kingdom’s border with Yemen.

“Reports in the media that the airport will be transferred are not true,” said Wael bin Mohammed Al-Sarhan, assistant to the GACA president for communications and marketing.

In a statement issued to the press, Al-Sarhan called on the mainstream media and social media to confirm the accuracy of their information before publication because it could be inaccurate and therefore misleading.

He urged them to counter-check their information with the GACA, which is the official agency for the civil aviation sector.

Al-Sarhan said the authorities never considered shifting operations of the Najran regional airport to another place in the Kingdom. In fact, a radical development project for the Najran airport had recently been completed.
