Fokker partners with Orenair for introduction of CPDLC in their Boeing fleet

Orenair 737-800

Fokker Services, part of Fokker Technologies, has closed an agreement with Russian based operator Orenair for the introduction of the CPDLC modification on their Boeing B737-800 fleet.

Controller-Pilot Data-Link Communications (CPDLC) is an air/ground data-link, which enables the exchange of text messages between controllers and pilots.

CPDLC complements traditional voice communications, providing pilots and controllers with an additional communications medium. The objective of CPDLC is to improve the safety and efficiency of air traffic management by introduction of data link services for the single European sky. The European mandate for this modification is February 5th, 2015.

The main part of modification is the one box Spectralux CPDLC box that will be integrated in the pedestal. Communication is made possible by means of a dedicated VHF communication antenna that makes part of the modification Fokker Services designs under its Part 21 Design Approval and delivers the complete modification package that comprises of STC, manual supplement and modification kits.

“We are much appreciated with the support of Fokker Services. Their support is enabling us to meet the mandate of February 2015 and will let our aircraft comply with the required regulations in regards of CPDLC” says Alexey Andreev, Technical Director Orenair.

Heino van der Laan, Vice President Marketing and Sales Fokker Services:  “We are proud and pleased Orenair, a well known and established Russian operator, has chosen for Fokker Services. We continue to expand the products and services for the Boeing operator community”.
